How to reset e-prescribing passwords

Purpose: This article explains the difference between a login password, a signature password, and a controlled substance password, and how to reset each one.
Audience: Providers who use E-Prescribing Desktop and/or iPrescribe

E-Prescribing Desktop (Rcopia) and traditional iPrescribe use the same username and passwords when accessing both platforms for the same practice, unless otherwise noted.

Login password

Your login password gives you access to iPrescribe or E-Prescribing Desktop.

Reset your login password
  1. Select Need help logging in? (iPrescribe) or Forgot password? (E-Prescribing Desktop).

  2. Follow the system prompts to reset your password.

If you can't reset your login password, contact your practice admin or see How Do I Reset My Login Password (All Products)?

Signature password

Your signature password is used to send all prescriptions.

About the signature password

Your signature password is used to send all prescriptions. If you send a controlled substance, you'll also need your controlled substance password and token PIN.

The system creates your signature password automatically during registration.

Signature password may not be required

Your E-Prescribing Desktop admin can turn off the signature password requirement. If your admin does this, you won't need to enter a signature password to send prescriptions.

Reset your signature password
  1. Select Settings from the iPrescribe or E-Prescribing Desktop menu.
  2. Select Signature password.
  3. Follow the system prompts to create a new signature password.

Passphrase or signing password

You need a controlled substance password to send a controlled substance prescription.

About the passphrase or signing password

iPrescribe calls this password the passphrase. E-Prescribing Desktop calls it the signing password. Both names refer to the same controlled substance password.

You must enter your controlled substance password immediately before entering the one-time PIN (OTP) from your registered token.

Reset your passphrase or signing password: Experian-registered providers
  1. See Reset my Passphrase for reset steps.

Failed resets require identity proofing again

If you're unable to reset your passphrase, you'll need to complete EPCS identity proofing again.

Reset your passphrase or signing password: ID.me-registered providers

If you self-registered through ID.me, your login password and your controlled substance password are the same. Follow the login password reset steps above. Resetting your login password also resets your controlled substance password.
