Purpose: This article explains how to respond to pharmacy renewal and change requests within the iPrescribe mobile app.
Audience: Active iPrescribe users
iPrescribe lets you receive and reply directly to pharmacy requests to renew or change an existing prescription.
Use this article to respond to pharmacy requests to:
- Renew prescriptions (Renewal Requests option)
- Modify or substitute prescriptions (Change Requests option)
Open the main menu.
Respond to pharmacy requests
Pharmacies may initiate a renewal request for a patient's prescription.
To review and act on these renewals:

Select Renewal Requests. The Renewals screen opens.
Main menu, Renewal Requests - For each request, select one of the following options:
- Change: Open a screen to adjust the quantity or dosage instead of renewing.
- Forward: Send this prescription to another provider in your practice.
- Deny: Do not renew the prescription.
- Renew: Select the number of Total Fills Authorized (1, 2, 3, PRN, or other), then select Renew.

A red number appears next to the Next button. The red number confirms how many responses are queued to send.
Renewals screen, Actions (Change, Forward, Deny, Renew) - Select Next. iPrescribe sends your responses to the pharmacy.
Pharmacies may initiate a change request for a patient's prescription; for example, substituting a generic for a brand name medication on a prescription.
To review and act on these change requests:

Select Change Requests. The Rx Requests screen opens.
Main menu, Change Requests - For each request, select one of the following options:
- Approve: Accept the pharmacy's proposal for a substitution.
- Change: Open a screen to adjust the quantity or dosage instead of accepting the pharmacy's request.
- Deny: Reject the substitution.
- Forward: Send this prescription to another provider in your practice.
