Register for iPrescribe

This article provides key steps of the registration process for iPrescribe app version 6.0.0. 

This article is only for new users planning to register on their own (self-registered), who downloaded iPrescribe app on and after 8/22/22. 

1. Go to the Google Play or Apple Store to download the iPrescribe app. You will be prompted to register for iPrescribe outside the app environment and in a web browser. 

Reminder: Supported browsers include: 

  • Google Chrome version 99 and above 
  • Mozilla Firefox version 89 and above 
  • Microsoft Edge version 98 and above 
  • Apple Safari version 14 and above

2. Before starting the registration process, make sure you have all requirements ready. For a list of requirements, reference: iPrescribe: Get Started Checklist

3. To begin the registration process, enter your NPI number

You will be prompted to create an account for iPrescribe once the NPI number is verified in our system. 

For the best experience, complete this process uninterrupted when you can allot the required time: 

  • iPrescribe registration = approximately 3 minutes to complete 
  • ID.me registration = approximately 15 minutes to complete

If the First Name and Last Name fields are blank, close iPrescribe and check the NPI registry to ensure all information is correct, then reopen iPrescribe.

Additional scenarios that may cause the First Name and Last Name fields to be blank:

  • Connectivity issues.
  • If you updated your NPI, it may take a few days to update in our system. Please submit your NPI changes by Sunday of the current week. Otherwise, it may not make it into our system.

4. Create a username and password. Tap Continue

5. Enter email address, role, and specialty. You will only be able to Save and continue, once you filled in all required information.

6. Enter practice name, address, phone number, and fax number. You will only be able to Save and continue once you filled in all required information. Note: iPrescribe does not accept PO boxes as addresses.

7. After entering information for your iPrescribe account registration, you will be prompted to enter payment information. This only applies to new users registering on their own (self-registered), who downloaded the iPrescribe app on or after 8/22/22. 

Note: 

  • Tax will vary and automatically calculate based off the state entered in the billing address. 
  • Coupon code will display in the upper right corner. 
  • Scroll down to Redeem a promotional code if you have one 
  • Completing ID.me verification will allow your payment to fully process. 

Cancellation

An iPrescribe Direct Member may cancel their subscription at any time; however, there are no refunds for cancellation, and you understand and agree that you shall receive no refund should you choose to cancel your subscription prior to the end of your Subscription Term. In the event that an iPrescribe Direct Member chooses to cancel their subscription to the electronic prescription (EP) System prior to the end of the Subscription Term, such member shall continue to have access to the EP System through the end of the Subscription Term.

8. After payment information has been processed, you will be prompted to create an ID.me account if you do not already have one. Select Launch ID.me to begin. 

Your ID.me account is separate from your iPrescribe account. We have partnered with ID.me to perform identity proofing (verifying your identity) for iPrescribe. Identity proofing is required to use iPrescribe. This ensures security for you and your patients. This process can be done in 15 minutes.

To confirm your identity, have these ready:

  • Access to your email
  • NPI number 
  • Social Security number
  • A driver's license, state ID, passport, or passport card

ID.me Verification

9. If you have a pre-existing ID.me account, log into that account. If not, go to next step. 

10. Create an ID.me account by entering your email and creating a password (Note: when you are creating your account, ensure your middle name is not in the first name field within id.me, this will cause an issue). Select I accept the ID.me terms of service and privacy policy checkbox to Sign up

11. You will be prompted to confirm your email address by going to your email inbox and clicking a link in a welcome email from ID.me.

12. Return to the ID.me verification process, by selecting the iPrescribe link on the email confirmation window.

13. Upon returning to iPrescribe app, you will be prompted to set up two factor authentication to secure your account. Tap Select to continue.

14. Enter your phone number and select Continue to receive a 6-digit code.

15. When prompted, enter the 6-digit code sent to your phone. Select Continue.

Recommendation: Pause here to Generate a recovery code, in case you lose access to your two-factor authentication device in the future.

16. When prompted,  a photo of your identification (license/state ID, passport, or passport card) for verification.

17. When prompted,  a photo of yourself (with your device’s camera) for verification.

18. Continue to verify your identity by prompting a credit profile check using your phone number. To match your phone number to your credit profile, you will need to opt to receive a text message or a phone call.

19. Enter your Social Security Number (SSN) to confirm your identity.

20. Confirm that your personal information, address, and phone number is listed correctly. Click the checkbox for The information I’ve provided is correct and I accept the use of Fair Credit Reporting Act data to verify my identity and tap Continue.

21. Confirm your phone number by confirming the link sent to your phone as a text message. Then tap Continue verification.

22. Enter NPI number to verify your identity. Select Continue

23. Confirm NPI number, state license number, issuing state, and specialty. Select Continue.

24. In the last screen, select Allow. This will allow ID.me to receive all the personal information listed. This step will allow you to log into iPrescribe from ID.me in the future.

25. If you have completed the full process for your registration for iPrescribe successfully, you will see a pop up that says, Congrats! Your subscription will be active after you verify with ID.me

26. You will now be able to log into the app and start prescribing.
