iPrescribe: Register for Accounts (iPrescribe & ID.me)

This article takes you through the registration process to create an account in iPrescribe and ID.me. While both accounts are separate it is best to complete the whole process without interruption. 

If you have already registered for iPrescribe, but did not click Allow at the end of the process, Submit a request as you will be unable to log into iPrescribe. 

Sign up for iPrescribe

1. To Sign up for iPrescribe, enter your NPI Number

2. You will be prompted to create iPrescribe and ID.me accounts, once your NPI number is verified in our system.

3. Create a username and password. Tap Create Account.

4. Enter email address, organizational role, and specialty. Tap Save Personal Info when you are done.

5. Enter Practice Name, Address, and Phone number. Entering Fax number is optional. Tap Save practice info when you are done. 

Note: iPrescribe does not accept PO Boxes as addresses.

6. After entering information to create an iPrescribe account, you will be prompted to create an ID.me account if you do not already have one. Launch ID.me to begin.

If you experience issues during the process, please contact ID.me as DrFirst does not manage this process. You may contact ID.me by visiting https://help.id.me/hc/en-us and clicking on the chat icon ID.meChatIcon.PNG at the bottom right of the ID.me home page.

Your ID.me account is separate from your iPrescribe account. We have partnered with ID.me to perform identity proofing (verifying your identity) for iPrescribe. 

Identity proofing is required to use iPrescribe; this ensures security for you and your patients. This process can be done in a short time, right from your phone. 

To confirm your identity, have these ready:

  • Access to your email
  • NPI number 
  • Social Security number
  • A driver's license, state ID, passport, or passport card

ID.me Verification

7. If you have a pre-existing ID.me account, log into that account. If not, go to next step. 

8. Create an ID.me account by entering your email and creating a password. Select I accept the ID.me terms of service and privacy policy checkbox to Sign up

9. You will be prompted to confirm your email address by going to your email inbox and clicking a link in a welcome email from ID.me.

10. Return to the ID.me verification process, by selecting the iPrescribe link on the email confirmation window.

11. Upon returning to iPrescribe app, you will be prompted to set up two factor authentication to secure your account. Tap Select to continue.

12. Enter your phone number and select Continue to receive a 6-digit code.

13. When prompted, enter the 6-digit code sent to your phone. Select Continue.

Recommendation: Pause here to Generate a recovery code, in case you lose access to your two-factor authentication device in the future.

14. When prompted,  a photo of your identification (license/state ID, passport, or passport card) for verification.

15. When prompted,  a photo of yourself (with your device’s camera) for verification.

16. Continue to verify your identity by prompting a credit profile check using your phone number. To match your phone number to your credit profile, you will need to opt to receive a text message or a phone call.

17. Enter your Social Security Number (SSN) to confirm your identity.

18. Confirm that your personal information, address, and phone number is listed correctly. Click the checkbox for The information I’ve provided is correct and I accept the use of Fair Credit Reporting Act data to verify my identity and tap Continue.

19. Confirm your phone number by confirming the link sent to your phone as a text message. Then tap Continue verification.

20. Enter NPI number to verify your identity. Select Continue

21. Confirm NPI number, state license number, issuing state, and specialty. Select Continue.

22. In the last screen, select Allow. This will allow ID.me to receive all the personal information listed. This step will allow you to log into iPrescribe from ID.me in the future.
