This article assists with troubleshooting reasons for "Authentication failed" during Experian identity proofing.
Identity Proofing Troubleshooting:
If you do not pass Experian identity proofing process (IDP), enter the additional fields listed below and try again:

Credit Card Number (Visa or Mastercard)
- Only the first 8 digits are required, and it must be a personal credit card, not a business card or a personal debit card
- Driver's License State
- Driver's License Number (numbers first, class letter capitalized at the end)

If you still do not pass, check if you have:
Solution: Wait until 24 hours have passed and click on the link in your invite again. If you exceed three attempts in a 24 hour period, even if successful, Experian locks out any additional attempts until the 24 hour lockout from the last attempt expires.

Solution: To review the information that Experian has on record, you can obtain a Free Experian credit report from www.annualcreditreport.com or Experian.com. If any discrepancies are noted, please contact Experian on the number in the report to resolve them.

Solution: You will need to dispute with Experian to update their Best on File address.
Solution: You will need to dispute with Experian to update the information. Make sure to leave out any special characters or periods when entering your address during identity proofing.
For example, 1 E. Main St. Apt. # 204 would be entered as 1 E Main St Apt 204.
Solution: In this case, you will need to put your address as the PO Box address. PO Box is a valid address for EPCS registration.
The issue may be that either your date of birth (DOB) or Social Security Number (SSN) is not present on your profile.
Solution: You will need to contact Experian to update this information.
