Backline: Leaving a Chat

This article explains how to leave chats and how this action affects chat history. 

 

Leaving a Chat (web)

Leaving a 1-on-1 chat

  • Click Leave Chat in the top right corner if you no longer want to chat with a contact.
  • The chat will be removed from the 1-on-1 and Recent list.
  • If you decide to add the contact back to your list, the chat history will reappear.

Leaving a Group Chat

  • Click Leave Chat in the top right corner if you no longer want to chat with a group.
  • If you click Leave Chat to exit an ad hoc group, the chat no longer shows in Group and Recent screens.
    • If you create a new chat in the future with the same group of users, the prior chat history will not transfer.
  • If you do not click Leave Chat to exit an ad hoc group, the chat will expire in 7 days and no longer show in Group and Recent screens.
    • If a new chat is created with the same group of users, the prior chat history will display.

Note: You will not be able to rejoin some chats unless re-invited (e.g., a private group chat that is by invitation only). 

 

Leaving a Chat (Android)

Leaving a 1-on-1 chat

  1. Go to the chat you would like to leave. Tap the menu (3 dots) in the top righthand corner.

  2. In the menu that appears, tap Leave Chat

  3. Tap Yes to confirm you want to leave the chat.
  • The chat will be removed from the Chat and Recent list
  • If you decide to add the contact back to your list, the chat history will reappear.

Leaving a Group chat, Ad hoc Group chat, Patient Centered chat or Notification

  1. Go to the chat you would like to leave. Tap the menu (3 dots) in the top righthand corner.

  2. In the menu that appears, tap Leave Chat.

  3. Tap Yes to confirm you want to leave the chat.

  • The chat will be removed from the specific Chat and Recent list
  • If you decide to add the contact back to your list, the chat history will reappear.

Note: You will be unable to rejoin some chats unless reinvited (e.g, a private group chat or patient centered chat that is by invitation only).
