iPrescribe: How to Finalize the EPCS Activation After Receiving the Mailer

This following steps finalize the iPrescribe Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) activation for users who have already completed the ID.me verification process. 

You will receive 2 separate mailings:

  • The mailer to complete the EPCS activation
  • The package with the token to register for EPCS e-prescribing

If you receive your hard token in the mail before finalizing the activation, please keep it in a safe place. You may register the token after completing the ID.me verification process.

Step 1: Log in to the iPrescribe App

Step 2: From the home screen, tap on the menu button on the left.

Step 3: Select EPCS Activation from the menu.

Step 4: Keep the mailer you've received ready to enter the 7-digit code or scan the QR code.

Step 5: Choose the method you would like to use: 7-digit code or QR code.

Step 5a:  If you select the Enter 7-digit code option, locate the 7-digit code on your mailer under the QR code and enter it into the app.  Follow through the steps provided in the app to complete the EPCS enablement.

Step 5b:  If you select the Scan QR Code option, allow the app to access the camera and focus your phone on the QR code (QR code is located at the top right hand corner of your mailer).  Follow through the steps provided in the app to complete the EPCS enablement.

  • The hard token and the mailer with the QR code are mailed separately.  Once the mailer is received and EPCS upgrade completed, you may then register the token for prescribing.  

    If you have additional questions, please submit a support request by selecting Submit a request on top or bottom of the screen.

  • I understand this is for security reasons, however, the key fob came and now its day 3 and still no mailer with QR Code

  • Good afternoon, thank you for your question. A reminder that mailers will be sent to the primary business address provided to the DEA, so please be sure you check that address. If the mailer still is not arriving at that address provided to the DEA, you are welcome to Submit a request to the DrFirst Support Team for further support.
