This article lists all of the known and most frequently used terminologies across the DrFirst space.

JSON JavaScript Object Notation – A data interchange format.
JQL Java Query Language
CS Controlled Substance
EPCS Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances
Login Password The password used to access your account.
Signature Password The password used to send prescriptions electronically (required for all prescriptions).
Passphrase The password used to send only controlled substances electronically after inputting the signature password.
Hard Token (Key Fob / Key Chain) The small orange / black Symantec device. The Serial Number (S/N) will be located on the back.
Soft Token The VIP Access application, created by Symantec, downloaded on an electronic device (phone, tablet, and computer). The Credential ID will be within the app underneath the term “Credential ID.”
OTP This means One Time Pin and is the 6-digit security code located in your VIP Access app if you use a soft token or press the power button on your hard token. It will change every 30 seconds, so please do not be alarmed as this is a security feature and will continuously change.
IDP Identification-Proofing
Invited EPCS status, which indicates you have been invited to begin EPCS IDP Registration and Enrollment.
IDPFailed  EPCS status, which indicates you have not passed EPCS IDP successfully. You will stay in this EPCS status until you can successfully pass IDP.
Tokenbound  EPCS status indicates you have successfully passed IDP, attached a token(s), and created a passphrase, security question/security answer. You will stay in this EPCS status until the Experian Transaction Number is input and your credentials are confirmed.
Experian Transaction Number This number comes from Experian either by SMS (text) or letter. Transaction number coming via text is a 6-digit code, whereas the one coming via physical mailer is a 9-digit code.
Enrolled / Inactive This EPCS status indicates you have passed IDP and input the Experian Transaction Number, and now are waiting to get your EPCS to grant status switched over from Inactive to Active in the LAC by staff admin.
Enrolled / Active This EPCS status indicates your account is fully set up to allow controlled substances to be sent electronically.

COA  Credentialing Office Administrator
SPI SURESCRIPTS PROVIDER IDENTIFIER - The provider's main account with Surescripts in which prescriptions are routed from here to pharmacies/vice versa.
NPI NATIONAL PROVIDER IDENTIFIER - a unique 10-digit identification number issued to health care providers in the US. 
DEA Drug Enforcement Administration (often referred to as a doctor's DEA NUMBER) - A DEA number (DEA Registration Number) is a number assigned to a health care provider (such as a medical practitioner, optometrist, pharmacist, dentist, or veterinarian) by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration allowing them to write prescriptions for controlled substances.
NADEAN Narcotic addiction DEA number - An identifier that the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) issues to all physicians who have special licenses to administer protocols for treating people with narcotic addiction. Required to be entered for prescriptions such as suboxone.

FDB First Data Bank - the drug database that we pull from for our lists of medications in Rcopia
PA / PI: Patient Advisor / Patient Innovations- refers to a series of tools found in a toolbar in Rcopia related to patient education, coverage, and adherence.
JEM Jave Engine Middleware
SS SuresScripts - our major technology partner that routes our prescriptions to and from pharmacies and provides us medical history
EMR Electronic Medical Record - The digital version of paper charts in a clinician's office. An EMR contains the medical and treatment history of the patients in practice.
EHR Electronic Health Record - An EMR but the term "health" instead of "medical" can apply to a broader spectrum of information.
PMS Practice Management System
HIPAA Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act - A US law designed to provide privacy standards to protect patients' medical records and other health information provided to health plans, doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers.
NKDA No Known Drug Allergy - a default allergy listing to a patient if they have not specified any known allergies.

Protected/Personal Health Information - Any information about health status, provision of health care, or payment for health care that is created or collected by a "Covered Entity" (or a Business Associate of a Covered Entity) and can be linked to a specific individual.

ePA Electronic Prior Authorization - The act of pre-approving financial coverage for medications by a patient's health insurance electronically.
mBC My Benefit Check
SSO Single Sign-On - Often used by our partners, this is a login method in which users can bypass manually entering a username and password on a login screen and directly login via a special URL in conjunction with a vendor account.
SSAC SureScripts Admin Console - The administrative web-based interface we use to gather information and manage accounts in the Surescripts network.
COV Change of Vendor (previously PUR/Provider Update Request) - A process in which a practice can request a change of ownership of an SPI between technology vendors via Surescripts.
NCPDP National Council for Prescription Drug Programs - Unique pharmacy identifier.
NUS Notice of Undeliverable Script - Notification sent to providers via backline that a script was undeliverable.
MedHx Medication History - A patient's history of prescribed medications.
PBM Pharmacy Benefit Manager (most often a third-party administrator (TPA) of prescription drug programs but sometimes can be a service inside of an integrated healthcare system (e.g., Kaiser or VA). They are primarily responsible for processing and paying prescription drug claims).
NewRx New Prescription - Newly prescribed medication.
REFREQ Refill Request - An electronic refill request sent from the pharmacy technology vendor to us through SureScripts.

PDMP Prescription Drug Monitoring Program
NP Nurse Practitioner - A nurse who is qualified to treat certain medical conditions without the direct supervision of a doctor.
PA Physician Assistant - A mid-level medical practitioner who works under the supervision of a licensed doctor (an MD).
MD Doctor of Medicine - M.D. denotes a first professional graduate degree awarded upon initial graduation from medical school.
API Application Program Interface - A set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications; an API specifies how software components interact.
XML Extensive Markup Language - A markup language that defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a human-readable and machine-readable format.
