Improved Pharmacy Search

The pharmacy search experience in iPrescribe has been redesigned to offer improved performance, faster results, and a more intuitive, user-friendly interface. 

Key enhancements include: 

  • Streamlined interface: Clear navigation and intuitive design.
  • Faster performance: Increased speed and responsiveness.
  • Simplified filtering: Easier to find the right pharmacy using updated filters.

Search for a pharmacy 

1. Log into iPrescribe and navigate to your patient's profile.

2. Tap on the pharmacy section of the patient's profile. 

3. Tap one of the 3 tabs to begin searching: 

  • Pharmacies (default): General search for all pharmacies.
  • Patient Recent: Displays all pharmacies associated with the patient profile.
  • Favorites: Shows user and practice favorites.

Pharmacies tab (default)

Within the pharmacies tab, you are able to search using three main features (alone or in combination): 

  • Search bar 
  • Filters button (refines your search) 
  • Filter "chips" or tags (can be edited)  

Search bar 

Start with 3+ characters. Enter at least 3 characters to initiate a search. Fewer than 3 characters will not return results.

Tip: Start with the pharmacy's full name or the beginning portion of it (e.g., "Walgreens" or "CVS").

Filters 

1. Refine search results by tapping the Filters button.

2. Select from several filter options, which include: 

Mail Order Toggle

  • Toggle ON: Only mail-order-enabled pharmacies shown
  • Toggle OFF: Mail-order pharmacies removed from results

Pharmacy Name

Enter at least 3 characters to initiate a search. Fewer than 3 characters will not return results.

Phone Number

  • Format auto-fills as (###) ###-####
  • Max 10 numeric characters
  • Only numbers accepted
  •

  • Accepts 1–35 characters 
  • Paste allowed (truncates if over maximum allowed characters)

Drop-down menu with: All States, US States, Canadian Provinces, Puerto Rico

  • 5 or 9 digit formats accepted
  • Invalid entries flagged
  • Apply button only active with valid zip

Pharmacy ("enablement") Type

  • Controlled Rx (C)
  • 24-Hour (24)
  • Specialty (SP)
  • Long-Term Care (LTC)
  • In-House

  • Clear: Resets all fields
  • Apply: Filters displayed results by selected criteria

Once you've applied these filtering options to your search, you will see a list of pharmacy results. 

Filter tags ("chips")

Once you've applied filtering options to your search above, you will see filter tags appear above your refined list of search results. These indicate what search filters you applied to your list of results. 

To quickly modify your filters using these tags: 

  • Click on the "X" on a tag to delete that filter. This should automatically update your list of results. 
  • Tap the chevron (>) to go back to the Filter & Search screen to update your search criteria and clear filters. Then tap Apply to refresh and view updated results

Patient Recent tab 
  • Shows up to 5 associated pharmacies
  • Highlights the active/default pharmacy
  • Label indicates "Current Patient Pharmacy"
  • Default pharmacy appears at top

Favorites tab 

The Favorites tab lists organization-wide favorite pharmacies in alphabetical order.

Manage Favorites

Tap on a star icon next to a pharmacy's name to add it to your favorites. 

  • hollow star = not a favorite
  • yellow star = patient profile favorite; tap on it and confirm the prompt to remove it from favorites
  • black star = practice favorite; you cannot remove this from favorites  

Search results 

Once your list of search results appear in alphabetical order, you will see "pharmacy cards" detailing information about each pharmacy, including: 

  • Pharmacy name (bold)
  • Address (if available)
  • Phone (opens iPrescribe Connect feature, if you tap on it)
  • Fax (if available)
  • Tags ("filter chips"): Controlled Rx. Specialty, LTC, Mail Order, Open 24 Hours, Limited Delivery, User-Created Pharmacy

Tapping Select on a pharmacy card applies the default pharmacy to the patient's profile. If the patient already has the maximum of 5 pharmacies on their profile, the the oldest entry will be replaced with your latest pharmacy selection. 

If prescription is pending, you will be prompted to:

  • Set as default pharmacy only
  • Set as default & apply to pending script

Search troubleshooting 

No results: Graphic appears for each tab (Pharmacy, Patient Recent, Favorites). Adjust your search query and/or filters if you encounter any "no results" messages.
