Step 6: Add controlled substance tokens to your iPrescribe account

Prerequisite: Step 5: Activate E-prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) in iPrescribe

If you will electronically prescribe controlled substances in iPrescribe, we highly recommend that you associate multiple authenticators that generate one-time-pins to your account.

This action may prevent you from losing access to e-prescribing controlled substances in the future.

There are 3 main authenticators that you can add to your account today:

  • ID.me Authenticator app (also called a soft token)
  • Symantec VIP Access app (also called a soft token)
  • Physical device (also called a fob or hard token) made by either Onespan or Symantec
Add ID.me Authenticator app (soft token)

In Step 5: Activate EPCS in iPrescribe, you downloaded the ID.me Authenticator app and associated it with your account already.

Add Physical Device (hard token)

Also in Step 5: Activate EPCS in iPrescribeyou ordered the physical authenticator (also called a fob or hard token) to arrive at the address you entered. To associate this device to your iPrescribe account:

1. Log into the iPrescribe app.

2. Go to the main menu.
