iPrescribe: Pair a New Soft Token When You Lose Access to Your Old Token (ID.me Registered Users)

DrFirst recommends that you associate more than one token (both a soft and hard token) to your iPrescribe account.

To learn more about associating a hard token to your account, go to: Manage EPCS Tokens

However, it is possible that you may have lost access to your soft token without having associated a hard token first, such as when you get a new phone.

If this occurs, you may associate an ID.me authenticator app with your iPrescribe account.

Note: The DEA requires that the authenticator you use to generate a one-time-pin be on a different device than the device that you use to electronically prescribe a controlled substance.

1. Go to https://www.id.me/
2. Select Sign In on the top right corner.
3. This will take you to: https://api.id.me/en/session/new
4. Enter the email and password that you used to create an ID.me account. If you need to recover your ID.me password, select Forgot password.

If you do have the ID.me Authenticator app, it will prompt you to return to ID.me to enter the code.

The DEA requires that the authenticator you use to generate a one-time-pin be on a different device than the device that you use to electronically prescribe a controlled substance.

9. Once you are done, you will see this Authenticator app appear under the Code Generator section as active for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) and e-prescribing.
10. Log into iPrescribe.
11. Go to Settings.
12. Select Manage Authenticators.
13. In the Authenticators screen, select Pair a new ID.me Auth App (skip Password and 6-digit security code fields).

16. Select the ID.me Authenticator app using the radio button.
17. Pair this ID.me Authenticator app to your iPrescribe app by entering the one-time-pin from it on the next screen that requests a code.
18. If you were successful, you should see the name of your ID.me Authenticator app appear in the drop-down menu on the screen.
19. Enter your iPrescribe login password in the Password field and enter a one-time-pin from your ID.me Authenticator app. Then select Activate to finish pairing the ID.me authenticator app to your iPrescribe account.
