1-on-1 Chats

Backline offers users real-time access to medication information and cross-organizational secure messaging. 1-on-1 chats are direct, private messages sent between two users.

  • These messages are only visible to the sender and recipient(s).

This article discusses how you can set up a 1-on-1 chat on Backline.

Start on the Backline sign-in screen and log in with your Email and Password.

Step 1: Click the 1-on-1 tab on the navigation bar at the top of your screen.

Step 2: Click the add icon mceclip2.png on the bottom-left of the page.

  • The Add User window will appear.

Step 3: Search for the user you wish to set up a 1-on-1 chat with by using one or more of the following methods:

(A) Search for the user by entering their name or email in the search bar at the top of the page.

(B) Filter your search by the organization by clicking the Organizations drop-down menu.

(C) Filter your search by the department by clicking the Departments drop-down menu.

Step 4: Click the add icon mceclip1.png next to the user with whom you'd like to start a 1-on-1 chat.

Step 5: You will now be able to have your 1-on-1 chat with the selected user.

Additional Resources

(1) To access your 1-on-1 chat messages, click the 1-on-1 tab at the top of your page, then select the user you wish to start a chat with on the right-hand side.

(2) You can also attach files from your hard drive by clicking the paperclip icon mceclip1.png.

(3) To forward messages to someone on your contact list, hover your cursor over the selected message, then click the forward arrow icon. Then, search and select the user you wish to forward the message to. Click Forward to send the message.
